Jazz Performance

Last Tuesday the 5/6s had a performance from a jazz band. Some of the students in 5/6W wrote a review on the concert. Amelia’s piece has been selected for the newsletter this week!

On Tuesday the 25th of June, five musicians came to visit the 5/6s. Dan was playing the trumpet, James was on the guitar, Sam on the double bass, another Sam on the drums and Ange on the saxophone. They taught us about three concepts of Jazz; swing, improvisation and the blues. We learnt about pulse and how the blues can express emotions and feelings. It was really interesting to see how they were able to improvise really well and they knew what they were doing. This is the first of three sessions that we will get with them. I’m sure we are all looking forward to them visiting us again!
