Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

The staff have been busy preparing our first fortnightly work package.

It will be available from the verandah outside your child’s class Tuesday, 28 April. [Please see the schedule time for pick-up times.]

We have spaced out the pick up to promote social distancing.

Staff unfortunately won’t be available to catch up with parents on this day.

We have decided to cancel the Pupil Free Day on the first Tuesday of term to focus on how best to cater for our students in those first few weeks.

‘Parents are encouraged to keep their children home. Those who need to send their children to school to maintain employment, children of essential workers and those who require schools to support them overcome particular vulnerabilities, however may choose to do so.’ [Director General]

Many of you had your first experience with Web Ex. This will be our two-way communication with students twice a week initially, along with phone calls and contact via CONNECT and SEESAW.

In the work pack will be our School Guide for Home Education with further information.

Staff have also prepared information to share with you and your child/ren. I would like to thank them for the many hours they have spent collaborating and putting the materials together! It has been a trial and error process, which after feedback we may make adjustments for weeks 3 and 4.

A whole Term Curriculum Planner is being written by staff for each class. They will be placed on our updated website. A copy will also be attached to a work package once they are completed. [Thank you to Mrs Kapiteyn for her work with the website.]

CONGRATULATIONS:

We would like to congratulate Ms Sam Tingle on her successful appointment as Deputy here at White Gum Valley PS after an external Panel application and interview process involving a very competitive field of applicants.

Also continuing with us for Term Two will be Ms Kate McKinnon [Year 1] and Ms Ashleigh Richards. [Year 1/2]

GROUNDS UPDATE:

It was with reluctance that John our gardener and I placed bunting around the play equipment this week. On a brighter note the Courts are being resurfaced along with the cricket pitches with matting. It is also hoped that the football goals and new flag poles will go in shortly. The Basketball pole will be relocated down near the playground. Signage for the murals will also be completed in the near future.

ANOTHER RESOURCE:

There is so much information online regarding resources that you can download to help your child.

Our school promotes the thinking of Nature Play WA, encouraging students to take advantage of the outdoors. I have attached a list of 25 things that they have devised that can be done during the break.

To all of our school community, the staff here would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Term Break.

Term Two is an unknown which we will do our best, with your support, to prepare for.

Glenn Rondoni
