Lost Property

There are lots of school windcheaters piling up in our lost property box. Parents are welcome to come in and take home windcheaters that are unnamed.  Please check that your child’s school jumpers and hats are clearly named.

Pyjama Day

Primary students are asked to wear their Pyjamas to school next Friday, 28th June.  With something warm to wear over the top when they play outside.

Year 4-6 Wentworth Gaol and Museum Excursion Report

Last Tuesday the Year 4-6 students visited the Wentworth Gaol and Museum to learn more about life for the early European settlers of Australia.  They have been studying early settlement this term during 'Inquiry' and have enjoyed the experience.  After the excursion Miss Lyell and Mrs Grimmer’s literacy groups wrote reviews of the two places and some were posted on the Trip Advisor website.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Readers’ Theatre Sessions Report

During the past week, Miss Lyell and Mrs Grimmer’s literacy groups have been involved in Readers’ Theatre sessions.  A Readers’ Theatre is a performance that is based on reading out scripts with fluency and expression.  Students had a lot of fun modifying the tone of their voices to suit the roles they were playing.  Students then wrote a critical review for the performance of one of the other groups and shared their feedback.  It was a very humorous and engaging session. 

Year P-1 'Hands up Mallee Project' Art

Year P-1 students  have been creating "Future Selves" for the 'Hands up Mallee Project'.

Students were required to imagine what they would be doing  in fifteen years time.

We definitely have some very 'aspiring students' at Merbein P-10 College.

Students artwork will be on display in the Year P-1 end of the Green Building until next week. Our display will then be taken to participate in 'Hands up Mallee'.

Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)

Reminder that OSHC will be finishing at the earlier time of 5pm on the last day of term.  Cheryll Hodge is our school’s OSHC coordinator and can be contacted on 0428 258035 if you have any queries.

Primary Uniform Jacket

Primary students will be  able to purchase a polar fleece lined Jacket with a water repellent microfibre outer shell.  It has elastic cuffs and an internal zip pocket.  It is available in size 4 – 16 and will have the school logo embroidered on it. Cost will be $40.00 per jacket.  An order has been placed and should be here within two weeks.

Green Building Weekly Assemblies

Year 3-4 assemblies are held most Fridays in the Green Building at 2.45pm  where Year P-3 students will receive weekly awards.  All families are welcome to attend.  Congratulations to last Friday's Award winners!

Year 5-6 Division Netball Report

Well done to our Year 5-6 Netball team who represented Merbein P-10 College at the Division Inter-school Netball competition on Monday.  All the girls showed fantastic sportsmanship and teamwork skills.  Unfortunately our team did not make it to the next stage but the girls played exceptionally well and we are super proud of their effort.  Great job girls!

Please ensure your child returns their books each week and brings a waterproof Library Bag for their Library books on the following days.

Merbein Community Bank School Student Banking Program

If you wish your child to participate in this program, please send your child’s bankbook along to the Green Building Office every Thursday morning. The Bank will collect and process your child’s banking and then drop the bank book back to school before the end of the school day.
