Information Nights & Subjects Selections
The Middle School Information Night had a wonderful number of students and families in attendance where the camps, China trip opportunities, careers and the entirely new vertical timetable was presented. This has been driven by student voice through surveys and focus groups along with feedback from staff and parents.
We now have 70 subject choices for students to choose and this is supported by student counselling and a middle school curriculum handbook detailing all of the benefits of each one of the subjects and the pathways they may follow. The impetus for the creation of this program has come from the desire for alignment of Student Choice, exposure to a wider range of pathway opportunities, rigour and teaching expertise. We received some very positive and constructive feedback regarding the senior program information nights and have already made changes to continue to improve our program moving forward. We have extended our deadline for choices until Monday morning and have been available to help parents and students on request.
Victorian Young Leaders to China Program
Following on from the successful application for the Young Leaders to China Program, we have again been allocated 6 places for 2020. This is a wonderful opportunity to expose our students to life changing experiences in one of the fastest developing countries on earth. The scale of China's modernisation is truly breathtaking and combined with the amazing sights and culture it will be an amazing opportunity for those courageous enough to apply. More details will follow.
Parent Teacher Information Night
It was wonderful to see so many students and parents in the school for parent teacher evening. This was the first time with the new time and format and the feedback was extremely positive from all stakeholders. We aim to continue to offer this time slot with the future events to be held early in Terms 1 and 3. The purpose for this change is to allow teachers, students and parents to meet earlier in the learning cycle, discuss progress thus far, set goals and to better plan for students to achieve potential. We would love to hear your feedback on these proposed changes.
