Principal's Report

The first term of the year has certainly gone by very quickly. Our staff and students have settled into the year well and we’ve had many positive achievements. There has been plenty of action with our Rebuild Project and we are now getting very close to completion. We’ve enjoyed moving into the new Food Technology building with new classroom spaces. The landscaping is taking shape and work is due to begin on our new sports courts any day now. The plan is for the contractors to complete their work over the holiday period. There will still be a few more spaces around the school that we will continue to update and improve to ensure we are happy with the quality of our learning spaces right throughout our school. However, it’s exciting to be so close!

There has been plenty on this term and this week is no exception. We had our Annual Report Presentation and the first meeting of our new School Council last Tuesday evening. Once again, I was very pleased to be able to present such a strong Annual Report which reflects the hard work we are putting into achieving positive outcomes for our students. Thank you to all of our school councilors for being prepared to play such an important role in the governance of our school. In particular, we thank Colin Gerrard for continuing in his role of School Council President.

We have Parent/Teacher Interviews on Wednesday 1st of May (the second week back after the holidays) and we encourage parents to take the opportunity to discuss the progress of their child with teachers. It will also be a great opportunity to check out our new buildings and spaces, so we look forward to seeing as many as people as possible.

A quick congratulations to Mitch Pesti who was successful in competing in the State Boxing Championships on the weekend. Mitch won his fight and a Gold Medal in his weight division, which makes him Victorian State Champion. Well done, Mitch – an amazing achievement!

On behalf of the staff at Beaufort Secondary College I wish all students and their families a safe and enjoyable Easter break.

Mr. Schier.
