Visual Art

We have had a very busy term with Art activities.

The first part of the term has been taken up with preparing all the scenery and props for the level five six production. A big thank you to all the families that donated items and or helped with the working bees. It was fun to create some amazing items that helped the show come to life.

Joanne A our Art Captain, has been busy designing a beautiful stained glass window for our Magical Tree. (You may have seen the roof starting to take shape on the trunk of a gum tree near the Munro street entrance.) This should be coming together as the term progresses with the completion and opening early in term four.

There has been much activity in classes with the development of skills in drawing, painting, textiles, and construction.

Foundation students have been have developed their cutting, painting and drawing skills, creating book week characters and creatures from the production.

Level one and two have carefully painted and cut colourful feathers to make a mobile. It was certainly challenging knotting each one to the mobile.  This idea was based on a short listed book Feathers by Margaret Wild.

Level three and four have used natural items such as leaves and twigs to create an imaginary insect.

Level five and six have been working with a textile artist Bea Tanner Burgoine, to learn how wool is spun and create their own small piece of weaving. This has been a great experience for all the students and it has been a very enjoyable relaxing activity.
