State Final German Poetry Competition
On Saturday, 17th August three students from Rangeview P.S. participated in the State Final German Poetry Competition.
Congratulations to Emma (Level 5), Christian (Level 5) and Kimberly (Level 6), who confidently recited their poems in front of two German-speaking judges and a small audience at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg that morning.
Students were judged according to their:
- Pronunciation
- Dictation and Phrasing, and
- Delivery of the poem – that is, how well students were able to express the meaning of their poem through their facial expressions, eye-contact, body language and tone of voice.
I am truly delighted with the achievements of each of these students. They have all enhanced their German language skills, grown in self-confidence and in their ability to express themselves in meaningful ways. A special mention to Tess (Level 5) for also qualifying for the State Final, even though she was unable attend on the day.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Emma received 6th place at the State Final for her poetry performance.
Fantastisch, Emma!
Emma received a trophy, framed certificate and a small bag of prizes for her wonderful achievement.
Additional information about the AGTV Poetry Competition:
Up to 500 students, teachers and families attended the State Final at the Austrian Club on 17th August 2019. The first State Final was held in 1993, making this the 26th anniversary of this event. Congratulations to all 149 state finalists, who had won Gold, Silver or Bronze medals at their respective Regional Final held throughout Victoria. This competition was supported by the AGTV (Association of German Teachers of Victoria) and the Victorian Government.
Rangeview Oktoberfest 2019
Our annual Oktoberfest celebration will be held on Friday, 18th October, 2019.
This whole-school celebration of German language learning will immerse students in German cultural and language-based activities, give students the opportunity to sample German foods and take part in German songs and performances.
Students are invited to come dressed in either the German flag colours (black, red, gold/yellow) or in the traditional Bavarian costumes (Dirndlkleid und Lederhosen). We look forward to a ‘fantastisch’ day for all students, parents and teachers.
Should you have any queries about our upcoming Oktoberfest or German language learning at Rangeview, please feel free to contact us.
Liebe Grüße,
Frau Ulrike Lindner, Frau Helga Shaw & Frau Kyla Petrilli
