DAV’s Junior Public Speaking Competition

Last week, Charlotte, Ivy and Zara of year 8 honed their communication skills whilst participating in Debaters Association of Victoria Junior Public Speaking Competition at St Catherine’s School in Toorak.

Our girls spoke with confidence and conviction as they presented their prepared speeches inspired by prompts predetermined by DAV. Students were also challenged to write and present two impromptu speeches, being given only five minutes to prepare each speech - this was a highlight of the day!

“I definitely enhanced my public speaking and speech writing skills today.  It was so amazing and I met so many kind students from other schools”

Charlotte Munro

“Today has really helped me grow as a public speaker and I feel really confident with my speaking ability”

Ivy Faehrmann

“At the beginning of the day I was really scared but now I’ve grown more comfortable speaking in front of people, and writing impromptu speeches”

Zara Collins

Student Leadership

Recently, some of our year 7,8,9 and 10 students visited their old Primary School, Sacred Heart Newport, and Trinity Catholic Primary School as a part of the Student Leadership Program. Our students showcased some of their learning and lead a demonstration to teach the younger students about Science and Technology. This is just one of the many opportunities for PCW students to develop a voice and experience leadership, whilst also making a positive contribution in the community.

Alummni Student Achievement
