Curriculum Matters
All Students and families,
Curriculum Matters
All Students and families,
As our students return to school we want to remind and reassure you that at Kildare Catholic College the job of our staff is to continue to support all student's learning and wellbeing. As students return to the normality of timetabled classes, some students will demonstrate some gaps in skill development and content knowledge due to their varying levels of engagement throughout this remote learning period. This is okay.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has stipulated that teachers have greater flexibility this year to determine and emphasise the aspects of the curriculum which are most important for students. In staff teams our first job is in identifying what are the most important skills, content knowledge, and learning outcomes our students require in this disrupted year of learning. Next, we can plan for how we best support the students who present with learning gaps in these areas.
As staff at Kildare we will continue to work in professional teams in determining what is the right work required to support our students continued learning growth.
This message is also supported by Catholic Schools NSW guidelines for removing the requirement of reporting to the common grade scale for Year 7-10 semester 1 reports. In light of these guidelines, we will be reporting on selected outcomes and learning habits and providing comments regarding the student's progress and areas for further growth.
As we welcome back all of our students, we continue to emphasise the importance of support and respect for all as we return to the classroom.
Kildare Catholic College 2020 Trial Exams Timetable and Student Requirements
Kildare students in Year 11 and Year 12 who are still yet to complete their HSC Minimum Standards tests will have an opportunity to complete these on Wednesday 17th June 2020 (Term 2, Week 8). Students need to pass online Numeracy, Reading and Writing tests to demonstrate they meet the minimum standard of literacy and numeracy required to receive their HSC from 2020.

Welcome back to all our students! Personalised planning meetings were postponed while students and teachers were offsite. Now that we have returned, we would like to revisit our personalised plans and invite you to indicate what would be most helpful moving forward. A google form has been emailed to parents who may wish to engage with personalised planning for their child. The form will close on Friday 29 May.
Personalised planning meetings are a valuable opportunity for collaboration between students, teachers and family. We appreciate the ongoing conversations that inform planning for your child and look forward to talking again soon.
If you did not receive the form or if you have any questions, please contact me at the College.
