Possums

During this week the junior students have been learning about how to write an information report.  The Foundation students have been learning interesting facts about ring tailed possums and they have created their own.  The Foundation students had lots of fun learning about ring tailed possums and enthusiastically created their own ring tailed possum.

Remote Learning - Friday Senior Sports

One of the last activities the Seniors were challenged with for Friday Sports during remote learning was to create a chalk walk for families and friends to enjoy. As you can see from the photos included, some students created chalk walks for family members to enjoy and others created them for the community to enjoy.

A big thanks to Aimee and Brooklyn and Samarrah for sending in their photos of their chalk walk.

Friday Senior Sports

We would like to welcome all the Seniors back to school!! It was great to see lots of happy faces Tuesday as they arrived at school. For Senior Sports on Friday both Grade 5/6 and Grade 3/4 students will be involved in rotational sports for the first 5 weeks so they get the opportunity to experience the winter inter-school sports.

The sports and coaches are as follows:

Football                  Chris

Basketball              Patrick

Kickball                  Kristy

Handball                Matilda

Badminton             Anthony

Grade 5/6 students will go out for their sport session between 9 – 10 and Grade 3/4 between 10 – 11. The contact sports will be modified so that there is minimal contact involved at this stage. It might even mean that students focus on skill development rather than playing a game.

At this stage we will not be involved in inter-school sports for the remainder of this term and it is unclear if we will be involved next term either. Because of this, we are planning to create a House Competition for the Seniors in the second half of next term using the winter sports they have been exposed to. We hope that this will create some healthy competition and fun between the Houses.

SFS CROSS COUNTRY

Friday June 26th, 2020

The SFS Cross Country Fun Run is on Friday June 26th, 2020 and it will be held at school. Seniors will be involved from 9.15 – 10.45 and Juniors 11.30 – 12.30. The track will start behind LS2 and go along the side of the basketball courts, out the gate behind the playground, along the footpath, back in the gate near the playground, along the front of the school in the car park and then back through to the oval.

Gates to the car park will be closed and there will be staff supervising along the track.

Foundation:                   Once around the track

Grade 1:                          Once around the track

Grade 2:                          Once around the track

9/10 year olds:             Three times around the track

11 year olds:                 Four times around the track

12/13 year olds:           Four times around the track

There will be separate races for boys and girls in each age or grade level. Students placing in the first ten will be awarded a ribbon and those who are first in each race will have their names engraved on the school trophies that are kept in our trophy cabinet.

Students will be required to wear their sports uniform as they will be running, but we hope that they will wear a t-shirt that is in their house colour and wear other accessories such as hats, scarves… in their house colour. They will also need to bring their drink bottle.

Please also remember to update your child’s profile on Care Monkey and acknowledge you have done so on the Cross Country notification.

Unfortunately parents will not be able to attend this event but we will inform you about who wins each race and the winning House.

SCHOOL SPORTS VICTORIA

Unfortunately, due to the current situation, the winners of Cross Country will not be able to proceed to District, Divisional or Regional level. However School Sports Victoria (SSV) who organises our Interschool Sports events has developed a Virtual Cross Country that students from Foundation – Grade 6 can participate in. I have included the link below if you would like your child to participate. This might be a great way to practise for our Cross Country!!
