Artisanship

With the return to on-site learning and a return to the workshop, Year 9 Artisanship students have had a productive week re-visiting and finalising the projects they began in Term 1. Students who chose to focus on a jewellery piece have been soldering, shaping, drilling, engraving and filing away on their Argentium silver workpieces, with the jigsaws, Domino jointer and resin setup in constant use throughout the sessions we have had so far.

We’ve been fortunate enough to move into a space with new joinery units installed over the break, including a dedicated 3D printing corner, a resin workstation and drill benches and power tool storage. Congratulations have to go to our students who have not only shown the initiative and independence to work with these tools and facilities at school, but also in the completion of their ‘Rube Goldberg’ machines during remote learning.

Special thanks to the parents who accommodated the logistical challenge of our Artisanship students undertaking practical work at home!
