STEAM is Floating!

Welcome to news from the STEAM classes at Edenhope College.

It’s winter and raining and we may have a small flood around Edenhope. Don’t worry! Our STEAM Engineers made a boat for you.

Our Year 3/4 students applied their engineering and mathematical knowledge to build a boat and tested their boat on the ground through pulling by the string.

While our 5/6 young scientists, with their advanced knowledge and technology, built the upgraded boat (Balloon Boat) which travels on the water with wind power.

In STEAM, the Year 5/6 students also tested how the sun ray (one colour) is split into different colour and made rain colour or the other way, how the combination of colours can make one colour. Year 5-6 students made a spin ball with different colour strips and spun it to see the colour change.

Triangular Tower

Year 7 students are applying their geometric knowledge to an engineering concept. They found a triangular house in Elizabeth St, Edenhope and now they are taking that idea to build a big tower in a Triangular Pyramid shape with less resources but the same engineering theme.

Paper Plate Zebra

Year 1/2 students had a virtual tour at the zoo. They looked at the shape and colour of different animals. Then they love to bring an animal, the Zebra, into the class. Students made a Zebra by cutting and pasting paper in a paper plate. The Zebra was wonderful ...the credit  must go to Mrs Hausler.
