The Arts

It's been wonderful having all the students back onsite and getting creative in the art room once again.

We have begun making ceramics again at the college. Each art class from this semester will have the chance to make a piece which will be fired next term. An 8-10 Ceramics Elective will begin in Semester 2.

For ceramics I am desperately seeking donations of plastic bags… these are now in short supply but if you have any you are able to donate, they would be much appreciated. Plastic bread bags are the smallest size that we can collect (please shake out any crumbs.) I would also love to receive newspapers and any clean plastic containers or buckets with lids, such as ice-cream or yoghurt containers. Please have you children drop them to me directly or at the office.

In their first lesson, Year 7's took their learning outside and talked about how art had been for them during remote and flexible learning. They were sharing anything they had created, some had done art tasks and some talked about things they had built and made such as workbenches and sheep pens.

The 8-10 Art elective tried out hydro dipping this week. Tom McDonnell is pictured below with a helmet he hydro dipped.

The 8-10 Photography Elective also had the chance to work in the darkroom in small groups. Students used natural materials and found objects to create photograms. They learned how to use the enlargers and develop photographic paper during this session.

Josh Perks created an amazing double exposure image.
