Assistant Principal News

It has been a sad and difficult week for staff, students and the wider Marian Community after the tragic loss of our Year 11 student Pavan Sharma. Our prayers and thoughts remain with his friends and family during this time.

We wish to commend our Year 11 students for the way they have bonded together and supported each other during this time, and we encourage them to continue to support each other as they move forward in 2020. We would also like to acknowledge the support offered by Mr Morris and the Yr 11 Homeroom team, their strength and understanding has enabled Year 11 students to navigate through this difficult time.

As a result of the last weeks events the College decided it was important to allow our community to grieve and as such, we have given the staff some extra time to work on their Junior reports, staff are now busily collating feedback for parents and students as they write 7-10 Semester One Reports. I wish to thank staff for their dedication in doing this, after such a unique and challenging term. Parents and students can expect to have access to reports on Friday July 3rd.

Meanwhile, Year 11 Semester One Reports have been completed and will be available via Compass from Monday next week. Please note that in Year 11 students receive a Grade based on their application, knowledge and understanding, mapped against the Course Performance Descriptors. Students are not ranked in Year 11.

Unfortunately, due to the Social Distancing Restrictions, we have been unable to hold our normal celebration of achievement for Year 11 and Year 12 Semester Academic Awards. However, students will have their Subject, Merit, Marian and Principal Awards posted out to them by the end of next week. An honour roll will also be published in the next edition of the College Newsletter.

Yours in Learning,

Lora Segrave and Damien Herb
