Visual Arts Communique

Firstly we would like to extend our congratulations again to Mr Neville and his wife Simone for their newest creation, son Hunter Jacob. I bet Mr Neville is looking forward to his prodigy’s artworks! What fun!

Year 7 and 9 Visual Art classes have been steadily working on original creations of their own with abstract and realistic portraiture. Terms 1 and 2. Year 7 focused on the background and works of Australian contemporary and internationally acclaimed artist, Ben Quilty. The following images are just some of the plethora of expressive images that the students produced with palette knives and acrylic paint.

Year 9 completed their portrait studies earlier in the term. They studied proportion and used the grid method to assist in measurement and sketching their person of interest. The second assessment task involved a more abstract approach with some fragmentation and changes in style.

Year 7 have also “attended” a virtual excursion at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and they will be designing some more symbolic artworks based on some of exhibitors.

Year 9 are currently working on Surrealism studying Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte and soon, Mambo’s artist, Reg Mombassa. We are looking forward to the inspiration that they take on and give to the rest of the community with their work.

Well done artists, keep up the amazing work!
