Learning together

Year 10

It has been very pleasing to see the way that Year 10 have managed to adapt and continue with their learning since returning from online learning. The resilience that they have shown in adapting so quickly to the changing learning environment and the uncertainty of what has been going on has been exceptional.

To help students with the transition back to school, Year 10 Connect teachers have interviewed every student to check in on how they are going and to talk about their goals and future directions. Miss Miletic, Mr Dunn and I have been looking at this information, meeting with students and are now working on planning for upcoming events that will be targeted to the needs that students have identified during these meetings.

Subject Selections - Year 11 2021

In Week 4 next term, students will be selecting subjects for their HSC. Students will be provided with information about each subject offered and will have time to speak with teachers. An extremely important part of this process is an interview where an experienced teacher meets with students and a parent/carer prior to making their selections. These interviews will take place in Week 4 and we hope that parents can find the time to be involved in this process. More information about this will be sent to parents early next term.

SALT (Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen)

A short time ago, some of our potential future “Lady Tradies” were invited to meet with other women in trades via an online meeting. They spoke about the challenges and rewards of going into a trade and the pathways that are available. Hopefully there will be further opportunities to meet later in the year and we are excited about this connection that Mrs Reid has provided for our students.

Year 7

It has been quite a stop-start beginning to high school for Year 7!  Despite that, Miss Cupac, Mr Wilcox and I have been so impressed with how our students have taken this in their stride. It has been great to see that Year 7 have continued to make friends and get to know their teachers. They are already very much living up to our values of Respectful, Responsible and Successful.

Last week, Year 7 received a gift of a book from the school. It was nice to see how grateful students were for the gift and also how eager they were to begin reading!  I look forward to hearing all about the them.

Reports

Year 7 will soon be receiving their first high school report. These reports will be released online via the Sentral Parent Portal. Parents and carers will receive an email this week with login instructions so that you can view and print (if necessary) these reports. Please ensure that your email address the school has on file is accurate and contact the office if you do not receive your login details by the end of term.

Safe holidays

I take this opportunity to wish all students and their families a safe and happy holiday break.
