In our English classes

Year 7

Year 7 English have been working on analysing various short stories and developing their creative writing skills in English this term. Our students have engaged in many ICT related activities to supplement the unit of study. Some of these interactive activities include creating digital storyboards and narratives, as well as using Tinkercad to design and print 3D objects from the short stories studied.

Year 12 and EDROLO

As we approach the end of Term 2, we need to start looking at how we are revising our modules. Did you know that all students have access to Edrolo and that for English Advance, Standard and Studies there are revision modules that you can add to your study program revising what we have already completed?

If you get in now and start with your revision, you are preparing yourself to have more time later on to devote to practise questions!

English as an additional language  (EAL/D) and Language background other than English (LBOTE)

Stages 4 to 6 EAL/D support English Classes

The LBOTE percentage at Cecil Hills High School stands at 85.4%. The EAL/D team work tirelessly to provide specialist support to help the educational and wellbeing of students learning English as an additional language or dialect. The differentiated, engaging and challenging EAL/D Program engenders a positive intellectual stimulating climate and culture of inclusiveness. The Covid-19 pandemic challenged our EAL/D students to engage with their learning in a very different way to the traditional classroom delivery.

Digital learning platforms such as Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Moodle were embraced with professionalism and engagement to deliver content, resources and information to EAL/D students in an online setting. Our EAL/D students are encouraged to continue using their preferred digital learning platform both inside and outside school hours.
