Year 8 leading the way

Well done students

To welcome Year 8 back to school in a safe manner, we have been conducting weekly assemblies via Microsoft Teams that have been projected in their Connect classes. These virtual assemblies have been a way to connect with the year group and inform them of important initiatives that are happening in the school as well as reminding them about being respectful, responsible and successful Cecil Hills High School students. It has been an amazing and fun experience running our assemblies like this and will continue to do so in conjunction with face-to-face assemblies next term.

Focus -  Kindness

Year 8 has also been very busy researching, brainstorming and planning ideas to raise money and awareness for a chosen charity following our focus of ‘kindness’ this year. The past few weeks, Connect classes have been working together to research a charity of their choosing and presenting it to Ms Phan, Mr Faga and Mrs James. Students will be given a chance to vote for their favourite charity and start planning initiatives to raise money and awareness for their chosen cause. A charity committee has also been formed to help run these events which might include handball competitions, video game sessions and even possibilities of collaborating with the Year 8 electives.

We can’t wait to see what Year 8 come up with, so keep your eyes peeled for events and initiatives next term.
