Transition to Onsite Learning

 Dear Parents,

Embracing change is not always an easy thing to do   Change affects us all and we each deal with change differently.  For our Senior students, their next change will be their return to onsite learning as of Tuesday next week.  They may be feeling many different emotions regarding this upcoming change; you may also be feeling conflicting emotions about this as well because each family has experienced Distance Learning differently.

When embracing uncertainty try the following strategies:

• Let yourself be aware of and fully accept the reality of the situation, including the feelings that go with it.

• Find the stability in the situation through familiarity and routine.

• Take one moment at a time and keep your mind in the present.

• Remember that “thoughts are just thoughts” – practise detachment.

• Focus on what you know and actions you can take.

• Practise gratitude for the things in the situation that are positive.

• Consider, and talk about, strengths and skills

To support you and your children in preparing for this next step we also encourage you to take the following actions:

Read school communications regarding the changed arrangements for students and families. This information can be found in the Principal's News and the Year 3 to 6 Update page.

Talk with your child about how they are feeling about coming back to school.   Answer questions that your child has as they come up.  Let your child know that they are safe and that it's normal to have questions and feel concerned sometimes.

Reassure your child that their teacher is really looking forward to seeing them at school on Tuesday.  The Senior teachers will be sharing a Virtual Tour video of the classroom on Seesaw so your child can have a sneak preview of their classroom prior to Tuesday.

If you have any concerns or questions please don't hesitate to make contact via phone or email - poverbury@santglen.catholic.edu.au
