Zoom Waiting Room

During class we talked about students sitting outside a zoom class, waiting to be let in. Students were encouraged to draw a cartoon of the Zoom Waiting Room!  Above is Renn Culpitt (7 Riley) interpretation of waiting to be let into a zoom class.

Year 8 Geography students were asked to make their own “pop-up” model of a drainage basin when learning about river processes this week. Students received instructions during a Zoom meeting and then set to work with a template, coloured pencils and glue. The results speak for themselves and it is hoped that our Geography students have gained a greater knowledge of drainage basins as a result.

This is a sample of the cross section sketches that Year 8 Geography students completed from a photograph taken at Bridgewater on Loddon. Students annotated their sketches with flood management strategies that might minimise the effects of future flooding on the Bridgewater community. Unfortunately, excursions and field trips are not possible at the moment, so students completed a “virtual” fieldtrip instead.

A Poem for 12 Frew

Let's pretend that we are looking at ourselves from afar,

Let's Imagine (see what I did there?) with a sense of wonder:

We are being alone, yet together, in this bizarre new world,

We can worry about the changes; the differences, the weird,

Or, we can flip our thinking and see this unusual as the norm,

And look on all of this as a positive uniqueness that we have endured,

Whether a vase sits half full or empty, it still holds a flower,

Even sitting alone at home, you're still empowered,

To think about our shared existence in another way,

To flip the script on isolation and embrace this as a new way to play,

It's an opportunity to learn, to laugh, to live,

And although this may sound cliched,

I say... no, I shout "Pariter Valete!"

Be strong together 12 Frew
