IDAHOBIT

As educators, as parents, as citizens, we know that young people do better at school and in life if they attend schools where they feel welcome and safe.

Beaumaris Secondary College is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all its students, including LGBTIQ+ students. As a school, we aim to equip our students to lead healthy and productive lives, to not only achieve academically but also to be happy, healthy and resilient.

The Safe Schools program has been established by the Victorian Government to ensure schools are safe places for all students, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) students, and are free of discrimination. As a Safe School we can ensure we are doing everything possible in providing a welcoming and inclusive school experience for all students, their families, and staff.

On May 17 each year, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) marks a day for people all over Australia to stand against discrimination and show support for our LGBTIQ friends, colleagues and families. You can find out more information about IDAHOBIT here.
