6-8 Partnerships for the Future

As we conclude our topic in Religious Education, Diversity and Difference, the Partnerships for the Future classroom was lucky enough to have a guest speaker from the Bacher Houli Foundation. This was conducted via Zoom.  It is amazing the opportunities we can have due to COVID-19.

Belal gave us a great insight around the religion of Islam. He informed the students about the sacred text and the meaning/purpose behind the Quran, the number of times a Muslim person prays and the purpose of each prayer.  He also provided our students with an insightful understanding of the importance of the Muslim sacred event of Ramadan.

Each student asked one question to Belal which he answered without hesitation. This experience was an exciting learning opportunity that the students took something from.

The Partnerships for the Future students have started their new topic.  The students have decided that the OLOP garden needs some TLC. The students have started cleaning up some of the areas that need some attention by starting some bricking by creating a boundary around these spaces.  Watch this space in Term 3.

Years 5 to 8 Student Lead TA Games

This week has seen the Year 8 leaders leading the TA activities in the morning. They have delivered a range of team building and problem solving games. All students approached these with energy and enthusiasm.

As we conclude Term 2 and Semester 1, on behalf of our 5-8 staff, we wanted to take the time to thank you all for your commitment, patience and support over what has been a difficult term. You all should be super proud of your efforts and with the efforts of your own children who have handled this term extremely well.  Please enjoy your break with your children, enjoy the time outside and with friends and family. Stay safe and we will see you all in Term 3 for the commencement of the term TA goals.

Regards,

Anthony Poppa and Corey Carver
