Inquiry

Over the last few weeks, the 1/2 students have been learning about different cultural celebrations from around the world. The students were engaged in some prior learning investigations before they began making their own piñata. The students loved the process of layering their piñata, waiting for them to dry and then painting them. Students then decorated and turned their piñata into their chosen animal or creature.

Literacy

Students have been very busy writing and publishing their own fairytales. Students drafted, typed and illustrated their stories and published these into books. They will be reading and sharing their stories with the Foundation students on Friday. Keep an eye out on Social Media for photos of this.

We are so proud of the way the 1/2 students have handled this challenging term. Students worked well at home and adapted back into the classroom routine very well. Enjoy your well deserved holiday break and we look forward to seeing you in Term 3.

Bubble Investigation

Today we went to the 1/2 area and we experimented with bubbles. We got big bubbles and small bubbles and we also got some rainbow bubbles. We did challenges as well. And my favourite challenge was getting a bubble on a straw. I made so many bubbles so I had to refill my cup three times. There was bubbles everywhere. My hand had so many bubbles on it. It was really fun and at the start there was so many cups with so many bubbles.

On Friday the 19th of June, the 3/4 students had some fun with bubbles. We got a cup with bubble mixture and we got a straw. We had some fun challenges like making an ice cream without it falling off the cup, blow a bubble in the air and catch it, make one big bubble in your cup and the last one was to get together in a group of four and put our cups together and then blow a giant bubble. They got really big. It was also very sticky and messy. There were bubbles everywhere. Some bubbles were bigger and some were smaller. The bubbles were mostly see-through but the reflection in the bubbles were pink, purple, yellow and a bit of blue and a bit of green. The bubbles were also very fragile so they popped very easily and they popped fast. They were mostly spheres and circles. We learnt a lot and we had fun.

Bubbles are very delicate because if you touch them they will pop. Bubbles are very fun to play with and get very messy. Sometimes they are giant, large, humongous and fat. They can be small and tiny too. Some bubbles can come in different shapes and all different rainbow colours like purple, green, blue, pink and other colours. Bubbles can move in different ways by the wind and all the other ways that they can move.

Mandalas

In Religious Education, students in 3/4 have been learning about different types of prayer. Last week we listened to calming music while colouring mandalas as a way of praying. Our finished pieces looked amazing.
