Performing Arts and Mindfulness News

'Our approach to mindfulness teaches students to pay attention to what’s happening both around and within themselves, and to notice thoughts, feelings, and sensations as they arise. We teach students how not be judgemental of the thoughts and feelings that they experience, but to be aware of what’s going on and how this makes them feeling.'

Dear St Anthony’s Families and Friends,

I am so pleased to be able to announce that our production for 2021 will be Moana Jr!

The rights for performance to this wonderful story were released last year and we were able to secure the rights to bring this musical to our community. The children are very excited and cannot wait to start rehearsals.

We have a sensational culture of theatre making at our school, we have been able to give our students experiences and memories that will last a lifetime and this year promises to be a very special show indeed. The children have been busy learning many performance skills during their Performing Arts lessons in term 1 and I cannot wait to get started on the songs and dances of Moana.

Of course we go forward with Covid-19 and everyone’s safety being at the fore of our minds, we may need to be agile and change things as we go along, but we are confident that we will be able to do something special with our students, so stay tuned.

Our show is scheduled for Thursday 16th September at Nazareth, there will be updates coming so stay tuned for any news in future newsletters.

The grade 5/6’s will be taking home their audition booklets over the school holidays. All other year levels will find out their ensemble roles in term 2 and staff will share costume information as well as a call out for parent/carer volunteers as we really do value your areas of expertise and enjoy getting our families involved in the creation of the show. Stay tuned for more information in term 2.

Wishing you all the very best,

Ms Victoria Gelberg
