Sheron Bull Sale
This week we attended the annual Sheron Bull sale with some of our Year 11 students. They had a fantastic day looking at what industry standards are in regard to the purchasing of bulls locally. Thanks to Mr Millichamp and Mr Dunlop for making this opportunity possible.
Student Driver Training
Mr Howell has been busy working with students to ensure they are progressing well with their driver training and completing the theory component. On each section, staff have also been working on driver training and assessment. The College continues to purchase manual utes as the feedback from families was overwhelming supportive of learning with this configuration. Over the next three weeks we will make every effort to progress students with their driving learning and assessment program.
Low Stress Stock Handling
Recently I have called for written applications for the Mitchell’s Low Stress Stock Handling course provided by John Mitchell. I am pleased with the number of applicants and I am currently ranking these to find two suitable students who will be attending on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 March.
Gate To Plate Challenge
On Thursday applications were due by 4pm for a place in the “Gate to Plate Challenge”. 24 students put their hand up to attend, but only half of that number have applied in writing for a place.
If opportunities are oversubscribed with interested students, the College often resorts to a written application process with a deadline. I can only encourage students to engage in this process as this is designed to prepare you for real life situations. I have also been able to learn more about student knowledge and ambition by reading applications which allows me to support them in their future pursuits.
A reminder to students that broad brim or College bucket hats are compulsory on Farm, as are Trade Bags with PPE. Students need to come prepared for each day on Farm with all of their learning materials.
