Basketball

On Monday evening, the boys and girls Harvey Ag Basketball teams played and won their Preliminary Finals to set up what should be an awesome Grand Final tonight.  Mr Jones said both teams played very well in patches and if they get it all together tonight, it gives them both a great chance of a win.

The girls play at 6.30pm and the boys at 7.40pm at the Harvey Recreation Centre. Good luck and we hope to see lots of people down at the games supporting the College teams.

Tutoring

Many of our staff are available after school hours to provide extra support and assistance to our students.

  • Monday nights - Miss Franco helps any Boarders who need assistance with Maths during Prep hours.
  • Tuesday afternoon - Miss Franco has Maths support for both Boarders and Day students from 4-5pm .
  • Wednesday - Mrs Pfitzner runs homework support across most subjects and assist with preparation for OLNA testing. This is available to both Boarders and Day students during Prep.
  • Thursday afternoon - Mrs Jones has offered to run extra English support for ATAR Students from 4-5pm.
  • Thursday evenings - Mr Watt is offering homework support across most subject areas during Prep time.

After School Activities

  • Monday afternoons - Mr Campbell offers Autos.
  • Tuesday afternoon - Mr Truss offers Metals
  • Mr Cousins runs chess and other board games after school.
  • Thursday - Mr Cousins offers bicycle repairs and maintenance workshops.

When you add all of the above to;

  • horses
  • gym
  • bike riding
  • walks
  • runs
  • Wednesday sport in the gym
  • craft
  • music
  • town sport competitions and club sport

It's no wonder some of the students are very tired by the end of the week, but I can’t imagine there are any complaints about having nothing to do!

Team Building Activities

On Tuesday evening, Mr Curran ran his team building exercise with the “tractors” he built for the students.

This was a whole lot of fun and the original best time of just under 2 minutes was almost halved to just over a minute.

What a brilliant exercise of planning, working together, sharing ideas and practice. Well done.

Year 12 Upskilling

Ms Taylor and Mrs Wellington are running our upskilling of Year 12 students.  Last night Mrs Wellington and four students went up to the Intensive Hub and cooked a meal from scratch in pretty basic facilities. We deliberately chose a kitchen away from our main one, with basic facilities and equipment to emulate what most of them will encounter next year when they are out in the real world.

Ingredients were sourced from the main kitchen, recipes were chosen and with lots of team work the meal was a great success. Great work.
