Year 11 and 12 College Ball

It was a blockbuster night last Thursday evening as the Year 11, and 12 students enjoyed their 2021 College Ball. The students and partners arrived looking absolutely fantastic; the sea of colours and variety of dresses and suits certainly added a magical touch to the “Hollywood” theme.  The red carpet was rolled out at the Grand Ballroom of the Pan Pacific Hotel for the special guests of the night. 

The enchanting atmosphere and alluring ambience that radiated from the room can be attributed to Ms Kotze’s creative efforts and clear decorating vision of the ball committee consisting of Andie J, Daniel R, Brianna R and Ryan P. Students entered with glamour, glitz and dazzle, ready for a great night of fun and dancing. 

The dancing was only interrupted by dinner, dessert, a few short presentations and photographic opportunities. Our top two best-dressed students were Ryan and Brianna.  Glen S dressed in a traditional Scottish kilt was crowned Beau of the Ball, while Andie J, who bedazzled like a Hollywood superstar, was crowned the Belle of the Ball. 

It is such a blessing to be the Head of Years 11 and 12 to journey with these students and see them grow into magnificent young men and women. The experience of having a ball together is something that we hope students and teachers remember forever.

Geeking out with Dr Karl

The Year 12 Health class was privileged to have a ‘question and answer’ zoom session with Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, often referred to as "Dr Karl" today in class. He is an Australian science communicator and popularizer, an author, and a science commentator on Australian radio and television. Some of the questions posed are ‘Do aliens exist?’, and ‘Is there life on Venus?' We also explored issues like magnetic forces and the sun’s energy. It was such an enriching experience to hear and learn from such a renowned personality.
