Year 9 and 10 Outdoor Education joined forces on Thursday 18 February to hike from Dromana to Arthurs Seat and explore the Seawinds Gardens.
Students took to the Arthurs Seat hill early on Thursday morning before the heat of the day and were amazed by the breathtaking views of the Mornington Peninsula when they reached the lookout. We stopped for a short break before entering the Seawinds Gardens Circuit; appreciating the natural flora and fauna of the area and discussing the land management strategies in place to keep the park in such pristine condition.
We stopped to reflect on our past and celebrate the traditional owners of the land, the Boonwurrung People, explored the ceramic art sculptures by William Rickets and enjoyed a picnic lunch under the shade of a tree. Celebrating the beautiful day, we completed a mindfulness session and gratitude reflection in our Outdoor Education journals.
A great day had by all!
Students studying Units 1 & 2 Physical Education visited Zone Bowling in Moorabbin as part of their study into the different forms of physical activity and recreational activities. Students were able to identify how sports such as bowling could increase physical activity levels amongst older Australians and reduce sedentary behaviours.
