Dining Hall News

We would like to introduce you to our dining and cleaning team. 

 

Chef Nick Harvey heads the team and has been working at GSG for seven years. Nick cooks healthy and delicious meals for our boarders. 

 

Nick has four children and his wife is a nurse. Nick loves to tell a ‘dad joke’ and have a chat to our boarders.  He is also a keen fisherman.

 

 

At the end of Week Two next term we say farewell to Chef Jaydn Steele who came to GSG as an Apprentice Chef six years ago. Jaydn plans to travel around Australia with a friend and we wish him all the best. 

 

You may have noticed the advertisement for a Chef in The Anchor, we will introduce the successful applicant next term. 

 

Mrs Sue Wolfe is head cook on Saturday and Sunday evenings and has been working at GSG  since 2016.

 

Sue has two grown up boys and seven grandchildren.  She is an ex-potato farmer and still enjoys spending time in the garden.

 

 

Each Chef is supported by a team including:

 

Ms Marisol Santiago has been working at GSG for nearly ten years. She works each Sunday cooking lunch for our boarders.  Mari also assists Sue with the cooking for Sunday dinner.

 

Mari has three children and loves to travel.

 

 

Mr Rudy Glauser works three weekdays during the breakfast period. Prior to GSG, Rudy worked at Quaranup and in Broome for a long period of time.

 

Rudy has two boys and loves organic gardening and hiking.  He is particularly passionate about growing vegetables.

 

Mrs Sally Mellows started working with the dining team in 2020.

She has a daughter, Stella, in Year Eleven at GSG.

 

Sally enjoys spending time with her two Staffordshire dogs, Marco and Porky going on beach walks.  She also enjoys gardening, camping and 4WDing and is currently renovating her house.

 

Mrs Joanne Poole started at GSG in 2019 as a Catering Assistant.  

 

Jo has three children and enjoys horse riding, walking and hiking.  She loves animals and has a bull named Drifter. Jo also has an avocado farm and if you're lucky enough, you may be able to purchase some avocados from Nicklup Orchard in Kalgan.

 

Miss Katie Bell, 2012 GSG graduate works in the kitchen helping with food preparation two days per week.  

 

Katie is a keen photographer and enjoys sewing.  She is also a Home and Away fanatic. 

 

 

Mr Amir Mirdiyanto works as a cleaner in the boarding houses five mornings.  He also assists Chef Nick and cleans in the Dining Hall three evenings a week.  

 

Amir is also the proud father of a seven year old daughter.

 

 

Ms Mela Dewi works as a cleaner in the boarding houses five mornings a week.

 

Mela enjoys cooking Indonesian and Balinese food and likes to try new recipes.  She often cooks new dishes over and over until she perfects them. 

 

Mrs Jennifer Shackleton works as a cleaner in the boarding houses five mornings a week. 

 

Outside of work, Jenny loves spending time with her two granddaughters. She also loves gardening and animals.

 

 

Mrs Tita Agustina works as a cleaner in the boarding houses three days per week.  

 

Tita has a four and a half year old son and loves to help her friend cook Indonesian food which they sell at local markets.
