From the Boarding Captains

Last Friday night, 26 March, all the boarders came together to challenge each other in the annual boarding Masterchef event. We split into small groups, with a mixture of boarders from each house, creating a two-course meal containing a main and a dessert. Two members from each team headed off to Woolworths with a $50.00 budget to buy all their ingredients and then returned to start cooking. We had a variety of meals from burgers to nachos and even a tub of ice cream decorated with biscuits and chocolate syrup for dessert. It was a fun night for all with all the boarders getting involved and cooking up a storm.

We are taking full advantage of the warm weather, taking more regular beach trips as part of our recreational activities. Almost every weekend a bus load of boarders head out to the beach to either go for a swim, enjoy a coffee at the café or just spend some time in the sun. It is always a great break away from the boarding house and allows quality time to be spent with fellow boarders in nature.

The senior boarding houses have started tutoring/mentoring the middle boarding houses. Each night a mixture of Years Ten, Eleven and Twelve students head down early to have dinner with the Middle School boarders, then return to their houses to spend half an hour tutoring and helping them with their homework and spend some time connecting with them.

As the term comes to an end, the changeover to winter sports is occurring with many boarders starting training and trials for the new season.  The new netball club, Griffins, offers an exciting opportunity for our netball players.  We are all looking forward to the holidays and next term, and I wish everyone a safe and happy Easter holiday.

This term has been a good start to the year. We hit the ground running, getting into the routine again. Last weekend the Eclipse boys went for a four-hour canoe down the Kalgan River, the weather was nice, and everyone enjoyed themselves. As this term has been a hot one there have also been many beach trips to Middleton Beach.

Football has started again, which everyone is happy about.  We have also been partaking in the house tipping competition, currently leading the competition is Mr Rice, Bailey Peacock and Mr Colton all tied.

Looking forward to next term, I hope everyone has a good holiday and enjoys Easter with their family.
