Stocktake 2021

As usual most of our stock losses are because people borrow books or items like adaptors and do not return them. The whole idea of a Library is that the resources are shared by the whole school and people borrow (use for a short time) and then return. We have some terrific resources in the Library but the whole school can not benefit from them if the first person to use it takes it and does not return it.

Given another crazy year of Remote Learning it is understandable, however, that students have borrowed earlier in the year and can not remember what it is they should be responsible for. We have sent reminders via email and the classroom teachers about items now due back. Once our stocktake is complete we will notify families where items are still on loan and not returned.

It is much more valuable for us to get the items back than to have to buy them again. It saves all of the time we put into processing the items for use. It is very important for the books to return so that we can have all the books ready for Early Commencement, where students begin doing the work for 2022 in their new classes.

We really appreciate your help in checking what you might have at home which has a St Augustine’s College barcode on the front cover. This shows it is a book belonging to the school. There will also be stamps inside with the school’s name on it (check page 13).

Reading Rocks

I came across another item on social media which explains why we are so keen for all of our students and staff to be reading. We understand that for many students it is a real challenge and they have not felt success in this area. We hope to find just the right book for them in 2022 and look forward to working with you to build that success.
