VCAL News

Senior VCAL 2021 students were farewelled at the Valedictory Dinner at the Geelong Racecourse. Prizes and certificates were handed out recognising the efforts of some of our students.

Kayla Frazer has been an outstanding Senior VCAL student. She has participated fully in all aspects of the program, including forging links with a local community organisation and helping to raise nearly $500.

Most importantly for her colleagues and teachers, Kayla has been the most kind, generous, approachable, and supportive member of the class. She has worked with many of her colleagues to help them through what has been a difficult year and has at all times kept up with her schoolwork and her part-time job whilst maintaining the highest levels of personal presentation and professional communication.

Congratulations, Kayla, on your inspirational year.

Certificates were also awarded by The Lazarus Centre for the work done with them by a group from Senior VCAL.

The money that they raised could not be personally handed over by the students, so I deputised and met with Mr Michael Nolan and Ms Wendy Leigh.

Those of us working in VCAL know that there are many important and meaningful stories that are not captured by these awards and certificates. We would like to offer our deepest respect and congratulations to all of the Senior Class of 2021. We saw what you did and were most impressed.

The Senior Class of 2022 is adjusting to life as role-models as well as to the increased expectations that are to be placed upon them. They will need to show that they can work independently and to a high level. We have every confidence in them.

The Intermediate Class of 2022 are finding their feet and learning how VCAL works. Their teachers have described them as a lovely group who are friendly and keen to get stuck in.
