THE MANY ANGLES OF HANDS ON LEARNING

Hands on Learning (HOL) has been operating at Epping Secondary College since 2014.

During this time, the program has developed into more than just learning about tools, their uses and "making stuff". The atmosphere HOL is more relaxed and self-paced. It has become a place where students are encouraged to try, to make mistakes and learn from their experiences.

The students are also encouraged to think a little less about the here and now and begin to project some thoughts about what life will be like after completing their secondary schooling. The kind of thoughts put forward to them are in the line of potential expectations and responsibilities that a prospective employer may ask of them.

With these thoughts in mind, it is hoped that what our students gain from HOL will have more meaning for them.
