Year 5/6 Speak Out Event
This afternoon, the year 5/6 class hosted a speak-out about the difficulties some kids around the world face on a daily basis. Well done to Mia Collins and Zoe Vernon who presented about sanitation on behalf of World Vision; they received the most ‘donations’.
Thank you to the parents/community who came along for the event.
Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 36 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs. Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.
You can register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents .
You do not have to fundraise if you do not wish, however, all students in Year 1-10 will still be participating. Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons/during lunch breaks and some morning fitness sessions. During this time, you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
Brilliant Brains
We had a busy day on Tuesday, with our theme of Community Helpers, fitting in visits from service providers around our usual activities. We began our workshop with our table activities which included painting fires, making giant toothbrushes and pretending to be a doctor or vet. Maths concepts were a focus this week where we counted teeth (really marshmallows), matched numbers with fires and firemen and made a fire engine from different shapes. For the rest of our session we learnt about some of the people who help us in our community. We visited the dental van and sat in the special chair. Tony Taylor and Kaye Bunney brought the ambulance to school so we could sit in the back and have a ride in the wheelchair. We also watched Mrs Clarke being strapped onto the stretcher like a real patient. The child health nurse, Michelle, also came and talked to our Mums about Kindy Readiness and then we listened to our hearts with her stethoscope. Thank you to these wonderful community helpers who took the time to show us what they do.
See you all soon for some more educational fun. Kerryn Seaby

Every one of our kids will experience anxiety from time to time (just as we do as adults) yet some kids are more affected by anxiety than others. Join trusted Child Psychiatrist and parenting expert Dr Kaylene Henderson to learn about the different ways that anxiety presents in kids, when ‘worry becomes a worry’ and when to seek help.
One of the mistakes parents often make is thinking of their growing children as though they were small adults. In this mindset, we can often, by downward extension, apply the same expectations to our children that we would to ourselves. Here, Dr. Vanessa talks about trusting in the developmental process and knowing that what childhood looks like will be very different from the form it will take in adulthood. https://parenttv.com/institute/ptv-social/videos/children-are-not-small-adults
