As part of the MY Step-Up programme, the Year 8 cohort will experience a "Community Project Day". The purpose of this day will be to introduce the students to the MYP Community Project, a culminating experience that the current Year 8 cohort will complete during Year 9 in 2022.

In August, we celebrated National Science Week, with this year’s theme being, “Food: Different by Design”. Unfortunately, like many other activities this year, the Science Team were required to adapt our celebrations to online activities only, one of which was a daily online brain break quiz. Prizes were awarded to the highest scorer in each class, as well as to the overall Year level champion. Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to everyone who participated.

The Maths Talent Quest (MTQ) is a great way to support student’s numeracy development as they engage in mathematical investigations. MTQ is an annual activity aimed at promoting interest in Mathematics and fostering positive attitudes amongst students, teachers, and parents. The focus of the MTQ is on the process of mathematical investigations and relating mathematics to everyday life.
The student entries are judged at school and the best two from each category at each year level is sent to the State Finals.
This year, five entries qualified for State Finals. Students from our College received one Credit, one Distinction and three High Distinction Awards.
Pearl P’s Investigation into the mathematics related to a Solar Dart Board was the Victorian winner and it qualified for the National Finals. What a wonderful achievement for all students! Congratulations.
As teachers, we are quite often asked how to encourage organisational and time management skills in students. Whilst there is no simple ‘one size fits all’ strategy, it is often something that needs to be learnt by individuals. With support and guidance from parents/guardians, young adolescent individuals can slowly establish great management strategies that they can use in not only their studies, but also in their everyday lives. The following short article investigates this topic!
