TRANSITION PROGRAM – Week 10 of Term 4.

We hope all of our students have enjoyed their new classes in our Transition program this week. The level of excitement and enthusiasm displayed by our students in their 2022 classes has been extremely positive and teachers have commented on the excellent application displayed throughout the week. Our Transition program culminated with Presentation Assemblies in which students were acknowledged for academic and co curricular achievements.

Vaccination requirements for college events

Please note that vaccination requirements for students for participation in college events like camps and excursions will be determined by the venue as well as DET guidelines.

At present, students aged between 12 and 15 who are not fully vaccinated can attend if the premises is being operated only for the purpose of one school using the premises exclusively.

The Department of Health has advised the Department of Education and Training that students aged between 12 and 15 who are not fully vaccinated will be able to attend camps, excursions, graduations and other school activities held at open premises that are also used by other schools or patrons from Tuesday 23 November.

This exception to the current Directions will apply only to school-organised activities when at least one teacher is present.

Please note: venues set their own requirements in line with government guidelines, and the college must follow these. For example, the University of Melbourne has stipulated that all our students attending the Year 12 residential in February 2022 must be fully vaccinated.

College events including parents/ carers -

COVID-19 vaccination information

Under the directions issued by the Victorian Chief Health Officer, visitors attending school to work are required to be vaccinated or provide evidence that they are medically excepted. Our school is required to collect, record and hold vaccination information from relevant visitors to ensure they meet these requirements.

Department policy also requires us to ensure parents and carers are vaccinated or medically excepted before entering school buildings.

Public Transport – you still need your mask

A reminder to students that masks are still required on public transport, including school buses.

Continue the CovidSafe basics please

Staff, families and students should continue to adhere to current policies and public health advice. Anyone unwell must remain at home and get tested for COVID-19 with a PCR test, even with the mildest of symptoms, regardless of a negative rapid antigen test result.   If your child is among our many hayfever sufferers, please consider having them take their antihistamine in the morning before they come to school.

Looking ahead to 2022 - phones, uniform etc.

In 2022, we will return to a rigorous application of the phone ban between 8.40am and 3.10pm.

This means that phones will not be allowed for payment at the canteen. Please ensure your child has cash or a card for payment (for example, a pre-paid debit card from Australia Post).

With the Covid conditions requiring additional ventilation, and also making purchases a little more challenging, we have been similarly relaxed with our Student Dress Code. This too will revert at the start of 2022, so please ensure students are in correct uniform from Monday 31st January 2022.

Families requiring support with uniform (or with queries) should not hesitate contact the college, as we have a range of support options.
