2021 Enrollment
Most enrollments for 2021 should be in by now. This has been an automated process via a compass event. If you are new to the program and are interested, please make contact with the Music Office. It is still not too late for students who are still making up their minds but they will need to hurry as teachers are in the process of sorting out groups for next year. Please contact the Music Office for any further queries on this – 8872 6369
Concert Week
The bands have been rehearsing this term. To finish the year we had a terrific Concert Week last week, showcasing performances from our 2 String Orchestras, our Chamber Strings Group, our Symphonic, Concert and Rookie Bands as well as our Guitar students and our Contemporary Bands producing 2 wonderful concerts. We wish to thank all parents and School community for coming along to support the students in what was for many, their only performance for this year.
All ensembles are back to normal next year. All Rookie Band students from this year should assume they will be in the Concert band next year which rehearses on Wednesdays from 3.30-4.30 pm. A list of which Concert Band Students are going up into Symphonic Band will be published at the start of the year. Rehearsal times will be determined as we employ new staff.
Instrumental Music Rap Up
Congratulations to all the instrumental music students and families on reaching the end of a very different year. 2021 has certainly brought many challenges for both instrumental music staff and students with the remote lessons, lessons outside and lessons where some students were not able to play or sing. Our usually hectic concert program will hopefully return to normal next year.
My sincere thanks to the music staff who rose to the occasion this year by learning new technological skills, developing engaging online teaching methods, producing detailed lesson plans and arriving at every lesson with smiling faces, ready to enthuse the students. Also to all the parents of our kids, who supported their children in their music education.
This year we say best wishes to our wonderful vocal teacher Ms. Emma Avery who is on Maternity leave for 2022, and we welcome our newest member of the team Mr. Lam Nguyen as our new vocal Teacher.
Thank you to our instrumental music parents who have supported our students throughout the year finding places in their busy homes for lessons and practice, and encouraging their children to persevere with their music studies.
While the Music Support Group has not been meeting this year, I would like to thank the members who are leaving us as their children finish school. There will be places available in this group for new parents in the New Year and I strongly urge you to join. It provides a link to high school and gives parents the opportunity to participate in their children’s education.
2022 will bring new and exciting changes to the instrumental music program at Vermont SC. I wish everyone the very best and a well-deserved Christmas break.
Best wishes,
Khristian Mizzi
