Chinese New Year:
Chinese New Year is the oldest tradition in Eastern Asian culture!
Chinese New Year is a form of the new year celebration we have in our culture, although they are different forms than how we celebrate. You may recognise the tradition of the life size dragon parade. In Chinese culture they do not celebrate their new year on the 31st of December, however they do it according to the traditional Chinese calendar. And again, it falls on the day of lunar new year as they are all connected.
Lunar New Year:
Lunar new year has been celebrated for almost 4 thousand years now!
Lunar new year starts on the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon of that calendar. Commonly it is set between January 21st and February 20th. This year it falls on today, the 12th of February. Hopefully, a good new year!
Spring Festival:
Spring festival is celebrated on the first bloom of the cherry blossom tree in Korea!
The spring festival is different to the lunar new year and Chinese New Year celebration, though it doesn’t start a new year it starts when the secrete cherry blossom tree first blooms.
