2021 SWIMMING SPORTS

SWIMMING SPORTS
The weather forecast for our annual swimming sports carnival on Friday Feb 5th was ominous. It started raining as we boarded the buses, but we bravely decided to push on… and what a great day we all had! Students dressed up in imaginative costumes, and participation in races and novelty events was excellent.
Our new Year 7s got into the spirit of the day. In a beautiful moment of community spirit Blue house captain Evan helped a Year 7 student who ran out of energy after competing in almost every event. Evan hopped in the water and helped him reach the end by which time a huge crowd was clapping and supporting him to finish. This was just one example of fantastic community care shown throughout the day, with new teacher Toby Mahoney commenting on what a supportive community we are.
Competition was also fierce with Sophie McKenzie breaking four records (one of them her own) and the annual staff versus Year 12 race once again won by the team of teachers who fiercely swam for their pride!
The inflatable and novelty event are always fun, and we managed to have students enjoy these activities before the first rumbles of thunder came in at 2.30pm.
