Retraction

Apologies for any confusion caused, in last week’s Especean article, I stated that all Summer Sport fixtures will resume on Saturday 6 February 2021. Please note that NDJCA Cricket and RHBL Baseball fixtures will resume on Saturday 30 January.

Swimming training will resume at the College pool on Tuesday morning 19 January 2021.

Please also know that all Baseball, Basketball and Cricket sports training will recommence Week 2, Term 1 – Monday 1 February 2021, with fixtures scheduled to resume on Saturday 6 February 2021.

Term 1 Summer Sports Draws

Before Christmas, you will be able to view the Summer Season Draws for Term 1 via Team App or the College website under the ‘Sporting’ page. (Once clicking the link you can flick between the various sports via the tabs down the bottom). Please note, times and venues are subject to change right up to hours before the scheduled fixtures take place. This is for a variety of reasons, not least of all the weather. It is also important to note that TBA or TBC is not to be interpreted as being a Bye.

Draft Fixtures

Please note the Draft fixtures list below is simply a draft. As such, the association, times and venues are subject to change up to and including the morning of the fixture/s. Please ensure to check the relevant website for the most up-to-date information the Friday before fixtures.

For NDJCA Cricket teams please check the NDJCA website for updated draws and fixtures venues - click to view.

For RHBL Baseball teams please check the RHBL website for updated draws and fixtures venues - click to view.

Thanks

As 2020 draws to the end, I would like to take this opportunity to commend everyone for their school spirit, sportsmanship and commitment during the course of this interrupted year. Thank you to the coaching staff for their willingness and to the parents for their support. I am very much looking forward to a bigger and brighter new year, hopefully without any COVID restrictions in 2021.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe holiday.

SPC Cricket News

Last week we were lucky to have Old Boy (Class of ’14) and Sydney Sixers player, Ben Manenti, come in to deliver some specialist training in bowling and batting at a special morning session. Those who attended were given individual tips to tweak their actions and all walked away having learnt something. Then later in the week Ben gave his expert advice to our 13B side, inspiring them for future matches. This along with every training session should build on each other and slowly show improvement across the season.

I thank Ben for his time and wish him all the best for the upcoming Big Bash Season!

I also thank the First XI and the Staff Cricket side for putting on a spectacle yesterday afternoon on Breen Oval in their annual T20 clash.

There are a few weeks left for NDJCA and then all of us will return refreshed next year for the second half of the season.  We are part of a strong tradition at the College and it is our responsibility to be good stewards of this legacy.
