Welcoming our Year 7's

The 2025 school year is well underway, with 64 Year 7 students starting their secondary schooling journey here at MECS. Students have shown great adaptability and determination in this transition as they adjust to the various changes of secondary school - navigating new spaces, teachers, subjects and friends. Establishing new routines with homework, lockers and timetables. And stewarding a Personal Learning Device (PLD), a device which will be used to enhance the educational program here at MECS as we strive to educate students to be ready for active service in His world.
In the first week of term, our Year 7 teachers, students and their families gathered together to enjoy some community time, to hear about our PLD program and for students to collect their own personal learning device.
Students were challenged to be ‘Purposeful Learners’, using their PLD as a tool to assist in developing their skills for the future. Parents were encouraged to work together with staff as ‘Community Builders’ who do the task of education together. And families were prompted to be intentional with their children, to have regular conversations about screen use and boundaries in their homes.
We look forward to a wonderful year ahead as we work together – seeking the kingdom of God in education.
