Middle School News

Year 7 to 9

Middle School

The year has started with much success. The first week and a half in Middle School has seen students in Year 7 commence their secondary schooling with the majority of students adapting brilliantly to the change. There is still room for improvement in arriving to class on time, however, we understand it is a big school and some rooms are hard to find. Coordinators will continue supporting students throughout the next few weeks and all are welcome to come and visit the Middle School Office, in the 400 building, if you require support at any time throughout the year.

Years 8 and 9 have also made a positive beginning to the year, with much of the feedback from teachers commenting that students are engaged, happy and respectful. Room for improvement will come from uniform and arriving to class on time. Coordinators are going to be actively monitoring uniform throughout the year and those who breach uniform policy can expect to receive community service.

Year 7 Social evening- Monday 8th February (5pm-6.30pm)

Parents and guardians are invited to the 2021 Year 7 Social Evening and BBQ, Monday 8 February at the College UPPER courtyard 5pm – 6.30pm. This night offers families a chance to come into the College, meet parents and some teachers and enjoy a pleasant social evening. The year level team will speak to families about the upcoming year 7 camp and answer any questions you may have.

We thank the College Interact team (supported by Rotary) for preparing the BBQ on the night.

While a sausage in bread will be provided, families are also encouraged to bring their OWN FOOD on the night. If you choose to do so, we ask you to be mindful of the meals you bring. There is no capacity for you to heat up a meal. The College asks all members of the community to avoid bringing foods that are highly allergenic and please BYO drinks (no alcohol). Middle School Captains and Vice Captains will facilitate a down ball competition.

Students are to attend) with their parents ONLY and are not to come on the night without a responsible family member.

The instrumental recruitment evening will follow at 6.45pm in the PAC.

We look forward to seeing everyone there.

College Charges 2021

East Doncaster Secondary College Council would like to thank you for your support of the College as we endeavour to provide the best possible education for your child.

In order to provide quality programs and a comfortable and efficient learning environment for our students, the College relies on strong support from the College community. The College Charges are designed to supplement the Government’s allocation to schools to provide materials and services. These charges enable us to enrich and extend the learning experiences of our students in each subject. Please find attached the explanatory Parent Payments Parent Letter and Parent Payment Policy. 2021 College Charges are now available for parents to pay on Compass.

Parents/Guardians will also receive the College Charges and explanatory letter via the post.  Please note that there is no additional charge incurred if paying online via Compass.

For further information regarding our Parent Payments Policy, please refer to the attached documents.

1 to 1 Digital Learning Program 2021

In 2021 we will continue with our whole school 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students.

Our Year 7 and 10 students will be required to purchase a laptop, Year 8, 9, 11 and 12 students will continue with their laptop from 2020.  The purchase of these devices is crucial to the learning program as students will access eBooks rather than an extensive number of expensive textbooks.

Details of the 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students and important information regarding suitable devices are detailed in the attached policy.

Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards

Please remind all students that they must carry their Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards with them at all times.
