Year 10 to 12

Year 12 students started the year with a combined assembly with our new Year 7 students, where the message was all about coming together as a community and supporting each other. The Year 12s personally welcomed the Year 7 students to our school by each writing a Welcome Letter that was delivered to that Year 7 student later in the day.

The letters contained a special message for each Year 7 student based on their own secondary school experiences and we hope this is the start of connecting the Year 7s to EDSC.

“Together a step closer to our dreams”

This is the Year 12 motto for 2021 and is prominently displayed across the wall in The John Landy Centre as a constant reminder and motivator. With this motto in mind, the College Captains vowed to work together for students to help make this a fantastic year for everyone.

Coming up on Thursday and Friday 11 and 12 February, we have the Year 12 Ascent Program, which will continue our positive start to the year. The aim of this program is to connect the Year 12s as a cohort, motivate them for the year ahead and to provide students with important information and skills for success in their final year of secondary school. Day 1 is held on-site at EDSC and includes a guest motivational speaker, information on VCAA and VTAC regulations, information on ways to achieve the best outcomes in Year 12 and an Elevate Education Study Skills Session. Day 2 is to be held at Funfields Water Park in Whittlesea and is aimed at promoting ways students can achieve balance in their lives and the importance of connection with others.

The Year 10 and 11 students have also had a positive start to the year. They started their year with assemblies promoting our school values and how they can best achieve success in 2021.

Senior School students seem to be settling well into their new classes and we look forward to working with them this year!

College Charges 2021

East Doncaster Secondary College Council would like to thank you for your support of the College as we endeavour to provide the best possible education for your child.

In order to provide quality programs and a comfortable and efficient learning environment for our students, the College relies on strong support from the College community. The College Charges are designed to supplement the Government’s allocation to schools to provide materials and services. These charges enable us to enrich and extend the learning experiences of our students in each subject. Please find attached the explanatory Parent Payments Parent Letter and Parent Payment Policy. 2021 College Charges are now available for parents to pay on Compass.

Parents/Guardians will also receive the College Charges and explanatory letter via the post.  Please note that there is no additional charge incurred if paying online via Compass.

For further information regarding our Parent Payments Policy, please refer to the attached documents.

1 to 1 Digital Learning Program 2021

In 2021 we will continue with our whole school 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students.

Our Year 7 and 10 students will be required to purchase a laptop, Year 8, 9, 11 and 12 students will continue with their laptop from 2020.  The purchase of these devices is crucial to the learning program as students will access eBooks rather than an extensive number of expensive textbooks.

Details of the 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students and important information regarding suitable devices are detailed in the attached policy.

Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards

Please remind all students that they must carry their Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards with them at all times.

ALL students must sign in/out with their card at the General Office when they are arriving late or leaving early for any reason. A reminder that Year 12 students are required to sign in/out at The John Landy Centre Compass Kiosk.

The cards are also used for any student photocopying that is done at school. The EDSC Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  is also the student PTV (Public Transport Victoria) cards. They are required to carry this card as student identification while travelling on public transport.

Students who are yet to collect their 2020 card are asked to please go to the Library. If a student loses their card, parents/guardians are able to re-order a replacement card via the Compass parent portal.
