Learning and Teaching

Welcome back to 2021! It was wonderful to witness the buzz of the school community this morning and to see the smiling faces of all, as our families entered the school gates. It is here that our life long journey of learning continues!

Our wonderful staff at St Louis commenced work officially on Wednesday 27 January. I say officially because there were many days during the holidays when our school was very busy with teachers organising their learning spaces, the Leadership team actively preparing for the commencement of the new year and numerous others working to ensure the whole school was ready and waiting for our wonderful students.

On Wednesday we launched our new school vision and Positive Relationships Policy with our staff. These have been a work in progress for a number of years and we were finally at the stage to share and celebrate our final product. As the year progresses we will continue to unpack these with the school community.

St Louis School Vision

We are Faith Community who bring life to the Gospel in our search for Truth, Beauty and Goodness.

We foster a culture of deep learning by providing powerful and authentic opportunities and challenges through codesign.

We influence the hearts and minds of self and others to lead hope filled lives of impact.

Our school closure days also placed a key focus on the teaching and learning of English and Mathematics.  We understand that the teaching of literacy and numeracy is a core responsibility of teachers in our school. Improving literacy and numeracy skills for our students requires a collective focus, where all members of our school community work together to adopt a whole school approach, supporting the explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy across each key learning area. Our staff explored, discussed and reflected on new planning approaches in both of these areas. It is our intention that best practice based on research is continually presented to staff to ensure that student learning outcomes are positively impacted.

We look forward to continuing our learning journey together...
