Educational Programmes in time of COVID 19 (Year of 2020):

The pandemic had arrived carrying immense number of challenges in different phases for the entire healthcare industry. It was not the time to wait and tolerate the worst but turn the pages to an important chapter in the virtue of well-being of the entire nation and beyond. We came up with virtual educational programmes to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission which motivated everyone to find education wherever they are and continue learning and evolving in this situation. QAI did not leave an opportunity to spread awareness with educational programmes conducted so far:

Two awareness sessions were conducted upon illuminating the participants on “Introduction to Dialysis Centres Standards.”

The pandemic has changed the face home healthcare industry globally broadening the procedures followed and services offered. The home healthcare showed a great significance during COVID-19 pandemic. Many COVID-19 patients were infected with mild to moderate symptoms who recovered within their homes under constant medical supervision and nursing care. Home care plays a critical role in out-of-hospital care delivery with lower cost than hospitalisation. QAI had envisioned home care as an evolving industry at the very beginning. With growing demand in home healthcare, QAI conducted three training programmes with two sensitisation and one internal auditor course.

QAI and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics together developed a unique programme called Q-Skool, aimed at providing an exposure to the basic concepts of laboratory quality management system to medical laboratory professionals. The programme was designed with eight training modules which enabled to successfully coach two batches of 140 participants in India and across the borders.

QAI in collaboration with Africa Institute of Healthcare Quality Safety & Accreditation (AfIHQSA), Ghana conducted a virtual Medical Laboratory Standards Training.

QAI and HealthCore in Philippines conducted three virtual trainings endorsed by the Department of Health, Philippines and Philippine Hospital Association for CPD points. The trainings were as follows:

  • Telehealth Standards: In view of COVID-19 as now the practices would be changing from regular hospital visits to getting tele-consultation, and therefore standardisation of practices of telehealth organisation is important. These standards were launched virtually on 15 August 2020.
  • Launch of Comprehensive Guidelines For OPD/ IPD Services In Ophthalmology Hospitals/ Clinics Under New Normal: Living With Covid-19: Keeping in mind to reduce the risk of COVID 19 transmission and infection in eye healthcare facilities, Orbis and Quality and Accreditation Institute (QAI) had joined hands together to develop comprehensive guidelines supporting infrastructure, resources, systems, various internal processes and different service areas within the eye healthcare facilities under project SAFE (Staying Away From Exposures). The guidelines were designed in a simpler manner for a quick understanding by the stakeholders and kept relevant to the current situation with an aim of prevention of transmission against COVID 19 within the eye healthcare facilities and clinics.
