Year of St Joseph

Pope Francis on December 8, 2020 published an Apostolic Letter Patris corde (With a Father’s Heart), commemorating the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of St Joseph”, running from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion

Please keep those preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in your prayers as lessons begin tomorrow (3/2/21) in Fr Stan Campbell Hall at 3:45pm.

Reflection Day will be held on Friday 26th February under the supervision of Mrs Rheinberger, Mrs Wilson and our Parish Catechists Mrs Swain, Mrs Kerklaan and Mr Gunning.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday 28th February at 9:30am in St Brigid's Church.

Welcome to our new Parish Priest, Father Vince Amaro

Earlier this year, we welcomed our new Parish Priest Fr Vince Amaro to St Brigid's Parish.  

Fr Vince was born in the Philippines on 30th January and recently celebrated his 50th birthday with members of his new Parish here at St Brigid’s.  He is the second child of four siblings.  Having entered the Seminary in 1987, Fr Vince finished his course in 1998 and was ordained a Priest in 2000. Fr Vince spent time in the newly founded order the Disciples of Hope where he became the Hospital Chaplain in Quezon City for six years, before returning to Diocesan Priest life.  In 2018, Fr Vince came to Australia and joined the Armidale Diocese.  We warmly welcome Fr Vince to our beautiful school and Parish community.

Funeral Notices

Bishop Luc Mathys' Funeral Mass will be held on Friday 5th February 2021 at Sts Mary & Joseph Cathedral, Armidale. Bookings are essential.  Please ring the Chancery on 6771 8700 by Tuesday 2nd February if you are attnding.

We extend our condolences to Bishop Michael Kennedy on the passing of his mother, Mrs Fidelma Kennedy.  Her Funeral Mass was held on 29th January, 2021.

May they rest in peace.

Opening School Mass

You are warmly invited to attend St Joseph's Opening School Mass

on Friday 12th February, 2021.  Our Parish Priest Fr Vince will be blessing students and staff, as well as officially inducting our School Leaders for 2021.  Please continue to observe COVID-19 rules by signing in at the front of the Church, social distancing and staying home if you are unwell.  We look forward to welcoming family and friends to this very special occasion.

Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted His only Son;

in you Mary placed her trust;

with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too, 

show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage,

and defend us from every evil.
