A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the 2021 school year. The students have already settled back happily into their new classes. It was wonderful to witness the excitement the students displayed when they were reunited with their friends.

We look forward to welcoming our parents and community back into the school more this year. There will be a few restrictions still in place but with a COVID Plan and some common sense we will make the best of what evolves this year! The first event on our calendar is the PT & F meeting to be held this Wednesday 3rd February at 6.00pm in the school library. I encourage all parents to make an effort to attend. The meeting only lasts for one hour and if you need to bring your children they can play in the break out rooms attached to the library. Attending these meetings is a great way to meet new friends and to support our school as well.

This year all the schools in our Armidale diocese will be implementing a Student Support Framework “Living Well, Learning Well”. This framework brings together many of the practices we already have in place and it allows us to reflect on how we can ensure every student feels safe, valued and respected as a learner at St Joey’s school.

Already each class has discussed and completed a poster highlighting three main areas:

  1. How students are kept safe at school
  2. How each student is valued, respected and cared for
  3. How students can be successful learners

Education is a partnership between home and school and I look forward to sharing this framework with our parents and community this year.

Have a happy and safe week.
