What is your favourite movie and why?

This is such a hard question! I can’t choose so I'll have to give two… at the moment they are ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ or 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2’. They both make me smile and have amazing cinematography and soundtracks. 

 

What did you want to be when you grew up when you were a little kid?

When I was little I wanted to be a Vet- until I figured out exactly what they did! Never in a million years did I think I would be a teacher- in fact I remember a teacher I had telling me in year 9 I could have her job one day and I laughed so hard I nearly wet my pants!

 

What is your favourite part about teaching at Mount Eliza Secondary College?

I love teaching in IDEEA Lab because I get to work with a big group of amazing kids teaching things that you don’t normally get to teach in other schools. I love being able to teach students life skills and watch them grow as they negotiate the challenges and projects that we throw at them. Every school should have an IDEEA Lab!

Who is your biggest inspiration?

Again, I can’t choose just one! I find Oprah Winfrey incredibly inspiring. She had a really tough childhood and overcame loads of adversity to become one of the most influential media personalities of the 21st century. She is a determined and fearless woman who is a successful presenter, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She has given away hundreds of millions of dollars to charity, many of which she is personally involved with. 

Another massive inspiration in my life would have to be my daughter Frankie. She inspires me to be a better person and teacher so that I can set a good example for her. 

 

What are some of your hobbies?

I love going to the beach, running, snowboarding, travelling, shopping for vintage dresses and hanging out with my family. I also collect toenails- just kidding- that would be weird :-D

 

What are the top three countries in the world that you would want to go to and why?

  1. Peru-  I really want to visit Machu Picchu. I think it would be incredible to see the ancient Incan city perched on a mountain top.
  2. India-  From the busy stinky city streets of Delhi to the incredible mountains of the Himalaya- I’ve always wanted to go and experience the craziness and beauty of this country.
  3. Canada- Rocky Mountains. Although I have been to Canada I would LOVE to go on the Rocky Mountaineer, a train that travels for days through the mountains witnessing some of the most amazing scenery in the world.
