Religious Education Week 2017

RE Week was one of life, goodness, truth and beauty! Our wonderful Learning Area Captain Danica Hinayon and our Liturgy Captain Geraldine Vytilingam rushed in with a dream and that dream came to fruition. Year of Mary was the theme and all the activities reflected the theme of saying "Yes" to the adventures that God calls us to. As we began planning for Religious Education Week 2017, we wanted it to be one which will draw many to the heart of Mary and in turn to the heart of Christ; as a result, these words lingered in our hearts and minds: ‘My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my saviour’ (Luke 1:46-47). With Mary the Mother of God, we rejoiced, we were glad and we celebrated.
The Religious Education Faculty has a common motto and that is: ‘if it doesn’t give you life, don’t do it.’ Life-giving opportunities is what we chase, and chasing them we did! RE week began with a calligraphy workshop by a local artist, Julie. On Tuesday we had a Kahoot Quiz for all those bible scholars in the college, Wednesday we had the wonderful Genevieve Bryant come out and preform a song that reflected our college them calling us all to ‘rise like the eagle’. Friday’s Faith and Mission Festival invited local youth group SPC, the NET team, Vocations Office Melbourne, as well as the AOY Team. The weather was kind to us, the music performed by Morgana’s students was wonderful, the BBQ by SPC was delicious and the sound of laughter and joyous conversations filled the atmosphere with what it really means to be the community that makes up Catholic Regional College Sydenham. Many warm thanks to all those that made this week a fruitful one!
