VET Music Showcase

Term 2 has been full of many different musical events. From lunchtime concerts to performances in Quatrefoils and the Crate, this year’s music program is as diverse as the students enrolled in it.

May the 25th saw the Year 2 Music Groups take to the Crate stage and show everyone what they have been working on. From the acoustic styling of Alicia Malady and Serah Mendes to the heartfelt program presented by Karina Levchenkova we saw exactly what the music program at CRC Sydenham has to offer. Students showed their research and dedication, from Amy Koprek’s attention to detail with her guitar group to Daniel Larosa’s Fish Hospital and their punk rock costuming. These performances are an insight into student exams in October and after these performances it’s fair to say they are in good stead.

Through gold coin donations the Year 12 class raised $120 for the College’s Timor Leste Appeal.

The 31st of May saw the Year 11 Music students come together and perform for the first time since undertaking their journey at Sydenham. Supported by the Year 1 Sound Production Students, the class performed a selection of songs showing not only their versatility but their talent and passion. From their challenging song choices to their support of one another from the audience, the Year 11s showed that they are a force to be reckoned with. Through our gold coin collection at the door, the Year 1 music class raised $135 for the College’s Timor Leste Appeal.

The Year 12 Quatrefoils dinner rounded out the term for the Music classes with the 5th annual “Dinner and a Show”. Hosted by the Quatrefoils team led by Christopher Micallef, solo music performance students showed everyone what they have been working on. With music ranging from gaming theme songs to country music and the tunes of the great Queen Bey herself, students continued to raise the bar.

As always, we would like to thank all staff and students at the College for their continued support. Thanks also to the parents and friends who come out time and time again. There are many more great events coming up in term 3 and we hope to see you there!
